Happa Baby School is seeking a caring, reliable, and flexible Preschool Teacher Assistant to serve as a floater and substitute across our classrooms. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with different age groups, collaborates well with others, and can adapt confidently to the daily needs of a busy early childhood program.

Happa Baby School is a Mandarin-immersion program with English support. We provide relationship-based care in a warm, inclusive, and community-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage when teachers are absent, on breaks, or need additional support

• Assist teachers with daily routines, learning activities, transitions, meals, diapering, toileting, and nap time

• Help maintain a safe, nurturing, engaging, and organized classroom environment

• Supervise children closely during indoor and outdoor activities

• Support each child’s social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development

• Follow individual feeding and sleep schedules when assisting in infant and toddler classrooms

• Assist with recording meals, naps, diaper changes, and other daily information

• Communicate professionally with teachers, administrators, children, and families

• Follow all school policies, classroom procedures, and California licensing requirements

• Help with classroom setup, cleaning, sanitizing, and closing duties as needed

• Be willing to assist in different classrooms based on the school’s daily staffing needs

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age

• Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-age children preferred

  Ability to work cooperatively with different teaching teams

• Dependable, punctual, patient, and attentive

• Comfortable adapting to different classrooms, routines, and age groups

• Able to lift and carry young children and participate in floor-level activities

• Mandarin-speaking ability required

• Must meet all health, background-clearance, and licensing requirements before employment

• Schedule: As needed basis

• Schedule and hours can be discussed based on the candidate's availability and the needs of the program.

• Expected hours: 8am-5:30pm

  Education: Associate Degree (Preferred)

  Experience: Work experience with preschoolers: 1+ year

  License/Certification: 9+ ECE units
